そんな感情的にならなくてもいいのに。
You don't have to get so emotional.
Explanation
「的」 attaches to a Sino-Japanese word and makes it a na-adjective, meaning 'having this quality' or 'in this respect': 「積極的」 (positive), 「情熱的」 (passionate), 「国際的」 (international), 「経済的」 (economical). Before a noun use 「な」: 「国際的な問題」. Before a verb use 「に」: 「基本的に賛成だ」. At the end of a sentence use 「だ・です」: 「合理的だ」.
Mixed up with
The exam tests only standard words with 「的」, such as 「客観的」 and 「論理的」.
Young people's 「私的には」 and 「気分的に」 aren't standard. Don't copy them in writing.
Native Japanese words normally don't take 「的」; you can't say 「×春的」 or 「×雨的」.
