への・での・からの

Combined particles

出発しゅっぱつまでの時間じかん、何なにをします?

What do you want to do until departure?

Explanation

When a phrase with a particle modifies a following noun, add 「の」 after the particle. Common ones: 「からの」 (「北京からの手紙」 a letter from Beijing), 「への」 (「先生への贈り物」 a gift for the teacher), 「との」 (「友人との約束」 a promise with a friend), 「での」 (「東京での生活」 life in Tokyo), 「までの」 (「駅までの道」 the way to the station).

Mixed up with

There is no 「にの」. Don't say 「×友達にの手紙」; say 「友達への手紙」.

There is no 「をの」 or 「がの」. Don't say 「×日本語をの勉強」; say 「日本語の勉強」.

「での」 is for where something is done: 「学校での運動会」. To say where a thing is, use 「にある」: 「机の上にある本」.
