より

More than, Over

パンダはバナナより重おもい。

Pandas are heavier than bananas.

Explanation

「より」 follows the thing you compare with and means 'than'. 「AはBより大きい」 (A is bigger than B).

Japanese adjectives have no '-er' form, so comparison relies on 「より」.

Mixed up with

Word order: name what you compare with, then 「より」, then the adjective: 「これはそれより大きい」.

To the question 「AとBとどちらが~ですか」, answer 「Aのほうが~です」. Do not answer 「×Aはより~です」.

Before an adjective, 「より」 means 'more': 「より良い社会」. This is a more formal use.
