Hardly possible, Cannot be, Highly unlikely, Improbable

I left home a whole hour early, so there's no way I'll be late.

Explanation

「はずがない」 means 'there is no way that …', the strong negative of 「はずだ」. From common sense or facts, the speaker is sure it cannot be: 「そんなはずがない」 (That can't be), 「彼が嘘をつくはずがない」 (He would never lie), 「あんなに真面目な人が遅刻するはずがありません」 (There's no way such a serious person would be late).

Mixed up with

It differs from 「〜ないはずだ」. 「〜はずがない」 is a strong denial, almost 'absolutely not'; 「〜ないはずだ」 is a mild guess, 'it shouldn't be'.

In speech 「が」 is often replaced by 「は」: 「〜はずはない」.

Examples

There's no way this box is heavy.

There's no way Sally's house is grand.

It is highly unlikely that it is just this.
