「言うまでもなく」, 「言うまでもないが」 and 「言うまでもないことだが」 go at the start of a sentence and mean 'needless to say'. You state something everyone knows, then move on to the more specific point: 「言うまでもないことだが、健康は大切だ」 (Needless to say, health is important). Common in speeches and essays.
