How to tell them apart

The clues for 「からすると」 are wider: what you see, hear, a tone of voice, even abstract hints. 「あの咳の仕方からすると、ただの風邪じゃない」 (Judging by that cough, it's not just a cold). For things you hear, you can't use the visual 「から見ると」.

「から見ると」 leans toward a line of sight, charts and data, or a broad position: 「図から見ると」 (looking at the chart).
