How to tell them apart

「からして」: starts from one point and judges the whole behind it. 「このレストランは、水からしてまずい」 (Even the water here tastes bad, so the food surely does too).

「さえ」: only stresses an extreme example, 'even ...'. 「子供さえ知っている」 (Even children know it).

When a question picks on one detail and criticizes everything from it, the answer is 「からして」.
