Explanation
「抜きで」 has 2 uses
1Without
Leaving out something that's usually there: 「ワサビ抜きで」 (no wasabi), 「冗談抜きで」 (joking aside), 「彼抜きで始める」 (start without him).
あの人は冗談抜きで怖いから怒らせない方がいいよ。
That guy is scary, no joke, so you shouldn't upset him.
あいつら全然来ないな、あいつら抜きで始めちゃおうぜ。
They aren't coming at all (it doesn't seem like they are coming anytime soon). Let's start without them.
2Not without
「〜抜きには/抜きにしては」 plus a negative stresses that it can't be done without it: 「彼の協力抜きには成功しない」 (it won't work without his help).

Mixed up with
「抜きで」: removing an ingredient or step that would normally be there. 「昼食抜き」 (skipping lunch), 「挨拶抜きで」 (skipping the greetings).
「なしで」: wider; it just says there is no A. 「メガネなしでは本が読めない」 (I can't read without glasses).
After 「抜きでは/抜きにしては」 you need a negative or impossible phrase like 「できない、成り立たない、考えられない」, not a positive statement of will.
