Explanation

「強」 (read 「きょう」) after a number plus counter means 'a little more than', just over that amount. It pairs with 「弱」 and is common in news, statistics, and earthquake or weather reports: 「10年強」 is just over ten years; 「500人強」 is a few more than 500 people; 「震度6強」 (seismic intensity upper 6).

Mixed up with

「〜強」: only a little over; an approximate figure.

「〜以上」: that number and everything above it, which can be much more.

「〜余り」: also a remainder, but the margin is looser than with 「強」.
