親おやならずとも子育こそだてが大変たいへんだということは見みてわかるはずだ。

Explanation

「ずとも」 is an elegant written form of the spoken 「なくても」. It means 'even without doing ...'.

Examples: 「言わずとも分かる」 (it is clear even without saying), 「見ずとも知れる」 (you can tell even without looking).

Formation: take the ない form, drop 「ない」 and add 「ずとも」. 「する」 becomes 「せずとも」.

Mixed up with

「〜なくても」: everyday speech and ordinary modern Japanese.

「〜ずとも」: old-fashioned, elegant written style, often for things that are obvious and need no words.
