い-Adjective (Predicate)
このお風呂は熱い。
This bath is hot.
An い-adjective can be the predicate of a sentence by itself: 「今日は寒い」. To be polite, add 「です」: 「寒いです」. Note that you cannot add 「だ」 in a casual sentence.
Never 「暑いだ」: an い-adjective ends a sentence on its own; 「です」 only makes it politer.
「今日は寒いです」 means 'it's cold today'. To stress 'very cold' add 「とても」: 「今日はとても寒いです」.
このお風呂が熱い。
This bath is the hot one.
これは楽しい。これは楽しいです。
This is fun.
暑い。暑いです。
It is hot.
丸い。
It's round.
地球は丸い。
The earth is round.
寒い。寒いです。
It is cold.
猫はかわいい。猫はかわいいです。
