N5
よ
Emphasis (Sentence ending particle)
それは熱いよ。
That is hot!
Explanation
「よ」 at the end of a sentence tells the listener something they may not know or may have missed, like 'I'm telling you' or 'don't forget': 「明日は休みですよ」. Be careful with it toward a boss or an elder, because it can sound like you are lecturing; with friends, colleagues or younger people it is natural.
Mixed up with
「よ」: I know, you don't, so I'm telling you.
「ね」: we both know, and I want you to agree.
「明日は休みですよ」 (Just so you know, tomorrow is a day off); 「明日は休みですね」 (Tomorrow's a day off, right? / How nice, tomorrow's a day off).
