Explanation

「ごろ」 follows a point in time, such as a clock time, date, month or period of life, and means 'around'.

「3時ごろ」 (around 3 o'clock), 「子どものころ」 (when I was a child). You can add 「に」 after it or leave it out.

Mixed up with

「ごろ」 is only for points in time. 「くらい／ぐらい」 is for lengths of time, amounts and degrees: 「3時間くらい」 (about 3 hours), 「3人くらい」 (about 3 people).

'I slept for about 3 hours' is 「3時間くらい寝た」, never 「×3時間ごろ寝た」.
