N4
かしら
I wonder
あそこにいるのはタケル君かしら。
I wonder if that person over there is Takeru-kun.
Explanation
「かしら」 is a sentence-final particle for doubt or uncertainty, often as if talking to yourself, like 「〜かな」: 「今日、雨が降るかしら」 (I wonder if it will rain today). It sounds soft and is traditionally women's speech; men rarely use it (they say 「かな」). It can also be a gentle question to someone close, without pressuring them. It often appears in requests: 「〜てくれないかしら」 (I wonder if you could …).
Mixed up with
「かしら」 is used by women; 「かな」 by anyone.
After a な-adjective or a noun, 「だ」 is normally dropped: 「綺麗かしら」, 「雨かしら」. 「×雨だかしら」 sounds stiff.
It is plain-form speech, so do not use it directly with an elder or boss; use 「〜でしょうか」.
