N5
くて(性質)
くて(せいしつ)
And..., Both and (Conjunctive)
トミーは漫画家でたまに学校で国語を教えている。
Tommy is a cartoonist, and occasionally teaches the national language at school.
Explanation
Continuing from the previous pattern, you can chain several descriptions, and the last one can be an adjective or a verb: 「この部屋は広くて、南向きで、とても明るいです」 (This room is spacious, faces south and is very bright); 「犬は大きくて、よく吠える」 (The dog is big and barks a lot).
Mixed up with
Only the last word decides the tense; the earlier ones do not change: 「昨日の映画は長くて退屈だった」 (Yesterday's movie was long and boring), never 「長かったで」.
い-adjectives, な-adjectives, nouns and verbs can be strung together freely.
