N5
のがすき
Like doing, Love doing
映画を見るのが好きですか?
Do you like watching movies?
Explanation
To say you like doing something, use 「dictionary form + のが好きです」: 「映画を見るのが好きです」 (I like watching movies). The object of 「好き」 has to be a noun, so 「の」 turns the verb before it into one.
Mixed up with
Do not leave out 「の」: never 「映画を見るが好きです」.
「こと」 can also make a verb into a noun, but with like and dislike Japanese people use 「の」 more: 「サッカーをするのが好き」 sounds more natural than 「サッカーをすることが好き」.
For the past say 「〜のが好きでした」; the change happens on the final 「好き」.
