N5
てから
Once...is done, Once...happens, After doing
I will start studying once I eat some snacks.
Explanation
「てから」 has 2 uses
1After doing
Finish the first thing, then do the next: 「手を洗ってから、ご飯を食べる」 (wash your hands, then eat).
Once I study Japanese, I will go to Japan.
I will start studying once I eat some snacks.
2Ever since
With ている or a length of time after it: ever since then: 「日本に来てから、ずっと一人暮らしだ」 (I have lived alone ever since I came to Japan).
I have lived in Tokyo ever since I came to Japan.
It has been five years since I graduated from university.
Mixed up with
「〜て」 just gives the order: 「朝起きて顔を洗う」; 「〜てから」 means 'you can't do the second without doing the first': 「お金を払ってから、商品を受け取る」 (you receive the goods only after paying).
「〜てから」 vs 「〜あとで」: 「あとで」 only says 'after', and a long time may pass in between; for 'ever since' only 「〜てから」 works, not 「来たあとでずっと」.
