る動詞（過去否定形）

The past negative of an ichidan verb: drop 「る」 and add 「なかった」 (casual) or 「ませんでした」 (polite): 「食べる」 → 「食べなかった」, 「食べませんでした」. It says you did not do something in the past.

An ichidan verb drops 「る」 and adds 「なかった」 with no sound change. But 帰る, 入る, 切る and 走る look ichidan and are really godan, so their past negatives are 「帰らなかった」, 「入らなかった」, 「切らなかった」, 「走らなかった」, not 「帰なかった」.
